This link in the menu bar takes you to an area where a group of students can "chat" with each other all in the same place.  To enter the Chat, click on the "Chat" button in the top navigation bar, and start interacting with your fellow students.

The blue '+' sign appears by the names of people in Who's Online who you have not added to your Buddy List.  If there is no blue '+' sign then they are already on your Buddy List and you can chat or message with them at any time by clicking on the green balloon by their name.  

Yes, you can make yourself Invisible by clicking on the drop down menu by your name and you can selecting 'Invisible'. In this mode, other students will not see you available for chat.

Click the 'x' on the message tab you wish to end to close to the conversation window. You can close the Student Messaging window by the larger X in the upper left of the window.  You can also just collapse the window by clicking the arrow in the upper right corner of the window.

Yes, you can have multiple Student Message conversations simultaneously. Each conversation will be represented by a 'tab' at the top of the Student Message window. Click on the 'tab' to switch between conversations. When you have a message waiting, a red balloon will appear on the student's Student Messaging window.

You can remove someone from your Buddy List by going to the "Edit" button next to the drop down menu on your Buddy List.  This will bring you to a page where you can manage your Buddy List. Click on 'Remove' besides the student you want to remove.

This means that the person has not accepted or seen your invitation and you should try again another time.

To start a one-on-one Student Messaging session, you must first add the person to your Buddy List.  You can do this by clicking on the blue '+ 'sign next to their name.  When they accept, a green balloon will appear next to their name on your Buddy List.  You initiate a Student Message with them by clicking on the green balloon.  A Student Messaging window will open and you can begin your private conversation.  

Student Messaging is a way to have a one-on-one private conversations with other students logged into the site. You can begin a Student Message by clicking on the blue '+' by a student's name in Who's Online and when they accept your invitation, they will be added to your Buddy List with a green balloon that can be clicked to then begin a private one-on-one Student Message.

Who's Online is a list of students logged on to the site.  Anyone in Who's Online can be invited to enter QSU Chat or Student Messaging.  

Chat is an open conversation with a group of students who chose to participate.  Student Messaging is for private one-on-one conversations.

No, there is only one place for groups to Chat and it is an all inclusive room where anyone logged into the site can participate in.  If you wish to have a private conversation, you can do so in Student Messaging by clicking on the blue '+' by their name in Who's Online and when they accept your invitation, they will be added to your Buddy List with a green balloon that can be clicked to then begin a private one-on-one Student Message.
